Luke Cage woke up a little after 3 AM. He was used to holding his beautiful wife in his arms, but it took him a minute to remind himself that no, this wasn't a dream. He was holding Jessica in his arms - and that really was Danny Rand, holding him from behind. He could hear Misty Knight softly snoring behind him, and he was pretty sure that was her hand on his thigh (Too soft to be Danny's. Probably. The man did like to moisturize.). This was real, and if the way this night had worked out was any indication, this wouldn't be the last time they all wound up in the same bed.

Yeah, life was good.

Two days earlier:

Putting Heroes for Hire back together seemed like a nice, laid-back way to get back in the superhero business after retiring from the Avengers, Luke thought. Then he had been reminded that while the villains they fought on this team may not have been as powerful as the likes of The Hood or Thanos, they were no less ruthless. And they were a lot meaner.

"Ow! Damnit, Danny!"

"I'm not the one who keeps squirming, Luke! Hold still - I'm trying to work these barbs out without hurting you. I thought you had unbreakable skin, anyway."

"Thought so too. Apparently the new Porcupine got an upgrade." Luke grumbled. ".txte when are these d-listers so powerful?"

"Well, we have been away for a while." Danny said, carefully working the last barb out of Luke's back with careful precision. "Maybe we're out of practice. Or maybe they unionized."

As Luke and Danny talked, Jessica watched from the side, bemused. One wouldn't expect Luke Cage to be such a terrible patient.

"Call me crazy, Jess, but shouldn't you be the one tending to your shirtless husband right now?"

Jessica reached out and took the cup of coffee Misty was offering her. "Pfft. Been there, done that. Danny's a better nurse than me anyway."

Misty laughed. "Isn't that the truth. Those hands. Wish my past boyfriends had taken a trip to K'un L'un."

"So you two are doing well? I know you hit a rough patch for a while there..."

Misty waved her hand. "We worked it out. We work well together, and we're both too stubborn to give up when things get hard."

Jessica paused, gingerly sipping the hot coffee. "Can I ask you something...kind of awkward?"

"Sure, hit me."

"Do you ever feel like you're sort of sharing Danny with Luke? I mean, I'm not the jealous type at all, but it's sort of hard to get used to, even being married for a while. He's got this deep bond with Danny, and I know he shares things with him that I don't know about."

"Only every day." Misty nodded. "It'll drive you nuts if you dwell too much on it. Last time we talked about it, I suggested we all sleep together and get it over with. You should have seen his face."

Jessica gaped.

"Yeah, that's the one, actually."

A call came in on the Heroes for Hire network, and Misty went to answer it, leaving Jessica with the idea that had just been dropped in her mind. Conversations with Misty were never boring, that's for sure.

"I am NOT having this conversation in front of our daughter."

"Our daughter is one, Lucas. She doesn't understand any of this." Jessica turned to Dani, who was lying on their bed cooing. "Isn't that right, sweetheart? You have no idea what Polyamory is!"

"That's not right." Luke shook his head as Jessica bent down and kissed Dani's forehead before turning back to him.

"I'm not saying we have to do anything about this, Luke. But it got me thinking. I mean, can you honestly tell me that there's nothing between you and Danny?"

"I would never cheat on you, Jess. I thought you knew me better than that."

"Of course I do. You're the best husband any woman could ask for. But just because you'd never act on it doesn't mean there's nothing there. We've all got feelings we don't act on for one reason or another."

Luke sighed. "It's...complicated. He's my best friend. We've known each other at our worst points. And yeah, it's not the exact same thing I feel for you, but there's something there."

Jessica reached over and rubbed Luke's back. "I never really bought into the whole 'soulmate' idea. We all love lots of people, in lots of different ways, and that doesn't change because you commit to one of them. Trying to deny that is what leads people to screw up."

"Well, yeah. But it's not like I'm going to act on it. Even if you were okay with it, I'd never do that to Misty."

"That's the thing she brought up, though - it's not cheating if we're all in on it, is it? " Jessica asked, a sly smile creeping across her face.

Luke reached over and gently covered Dani's ears, eliciting a stifled laugh from Jessica. "So, wait - You? And Misty? And - Are you even - "

This was the most flustered Jessica had ever seen Luke, which was fun in its own right. "Well, I can't say this is something I've ever done before, but I'd be open to the experience. And Misty and Danny are both gorgeous, so it's not like I'd be sacrificing for the cause." Jessica leaned in and kissed Luke on the lips. "This isn't something I'm pushing for, just an option I wanted to put out there if you wanted to try it."

"...I think I've got to sleep on this."

"No problem." Jessica said. "I'll put Dani down and come to bed."

As Jessica picked up Dani and walked her to her crib, she realized that she had just proposed a four-way with her husband's bromance and another gorgeous woman - and Luke had to think about whether he wanted it. Yep, she had definitely married well.

Unsure but intrigued, Luke had decided to see where this went, and so both couples sat down together to figure this out.

"You're sure you're up for this, Danny? I mean, you've had the least say so far..."

"Luke, when have you ever known me to say no to a journey into uncharted waters?" Danny smirked. "No, it sounds...interesting. Fun, as long as we're all on board and agree on the ground rules."

"Speaking of those." Misty pulled out a notepad, proving once again that she had probably thought more about this than any of them. "We've got two functioning couples here, and we don't want to screw that up. Especially with a baby involved. I think the best way to do that is to ensure no one gets left out. No three-ways. This is a couple's activity."

"Definitely better than the ones Reed and Sue try to get us to come to." Luke cracked, earning himself a playful elbow in the ribs from Jessica.

Jessica spoke up next. ".txte we're just giving this a try at first, does one night a week sound good? Say...Tuesday?"

"Today's Tuesday." Danny replied.

"That's why it's Tuesday."

"I love this woman." Luke laughed as he wrapped an arm around Jessica.

"Sounds good to me." Misty nodded. "Most of the poly couples I know start slow, especially if there are pre-existing relationships, and then can expand from there. And I think we've covered everything?"

"I'd say so." Danny nodded with a grin. "And my penthouse has a king-size bed, so we picked the right place for this meeting."

As Jessica and Misty got up and started whispering things about techniques and positioning to each other, Luke looked at Danny.

"We wound up with the best women in the world, man."

"Do we ever." Danny laughed. "Now get in there. It's taking all my K'un L'un training not to leap on you right now."
